Courtyard Café

**Courtyard Cafe is now closed for the summer and will re-open on September 9th – see you then!**
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANY CLOTHING DONATIONS AS THE CLOTHES STORE IS NOW CLOSED

On Monday lunchtimes during school terms we open our doors as a cafe. From mums and tots to walking groups, asylum seekers and painter-decorators, we welcome in everybody for a good, home-cooked meal or a friendly cup of tea.

Courtyard Cafe began on October 5th, 1998, with five small tables in what was then a new glass-roofed courtyard area of the church. Due to popular demand we had to expand into the main church hall. We are still here today, run entirely by a regular team of around 12 volunteers from HLBC and friends from the local community.

Our aims

  • We believe that we are serving God by serving our customers and offering a hand of friendship to the local community.
  • We believe that we should keep our prices low, so we can offer good, nutritious food at affordable prices to everyone who comes through our doors.

The Cafe is administered by a management committee made up of four volunteers, and we are fully equipped to operate (including a five star health and safety rating from the council!). We serve a range of lunchtime food including freshly cooked hot meals, baked potatoes and toasties, sandwiches, puddings and drinks.

Courtyard Cafe is part of Leeds Fair Share network and Tesco’s Community Food Connection scheme. We were in the news in June! Read more here >>

Opening hours

We open from 11am until 1.30pm, last orders taken 1pm.
The Cafe runs during school term time each Monday, and not in school holidays or on bank holidays.

Volunteering

If you are interested in helping at the Cafe as a volunteer, the easiest thing to do is stop by on a Monday and say hello! There are many roles in the cafe including serving and taking orders, preparing food, cleaning and setting up, washing up… the list goes on! Please come in and introduce yourself, or get in touch via the Church office.

Courtyard Clothes Closing

Unfortunately we are ending our Courtyard Clothes project this July due to lack of volunteer staff. Thank you for all the donations and support over nearly twenty years, but PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY MORE CLOTHES to the church or leave them in our doorway, thanks. There are charity shops on both Roundhay Road and Harrogate Road in Chapel Allerton that will be happy to receive your donated clothing.
