Children and young people
We believe that children and young people hold a valuable place within our church family and seek to serve and include them. Our provision for children and young people develops and adapts as the generations within our church family change and grow and recent years have seen various formats including Sunday Club (during morning worship), youth clubs and SPACE group, Sunday evening meetings, cell groups and Youth Alpha course.
We have a Child Protection Policy which we commit to each year, including CRB checks for youth workers and helpers.
Children go out to Sunday Club (our Sunday School classes) during the morning service. We currently run groups based round school year for ages 4 up to 16, Primary Reception to High School Yr 11 (see Sunday Worship). Provision for teenagers varies depending on the current age range of our young people.
There is no group provision for under 4s, but we have a Creche room at the back of the main church hall with a sound feed, and also offer a quiet toy space in the church room itself.
We run a youth group every other Thursday evening during term time, from 7.30pm til 9pm. This is for young people who are in high school and meets in HLBC lounge or in one of the leader’s houses.
Evenings include space for chatting, games, activities, hot chocolate and cake! We have occasional social outings and in April 2013 did a sponsored sleepover in the church, raising £1,000 for Koshish, a mental health charity in Nepal. We are excited about our weekend away in the spring, and this year the charity we are supporting is toilettwinning.org!
