Sunday worship at HLBC

Our gathered church is made up of many cultures and backgrounds, and worship on a Sunday reflects this – with a preaching and worship team of diverse styles and ministries who serve our community.

Morning service

The morning service begins at 10am with worship and preaching at its centre. The first part of the service is ‘altogether’ worship time before young people leave for Sunday Club. There is usually a sermon, and also time for prayer, reflection and worship. The service finishes around 11.20am for drinks and biscuits!

Occasionally we may have an all-age service, where the children stay in and we worship and learn together – for example on holiday Sundays. Communion is shared once a month as part of morning worship.

Young people

Children go out to Sunday Club (our Sunday school classes) after 20-30 minutes of worshipping together. We currently run groups based round school year for ages 4 up to around 16. Provision for teenagers varies depending on the current age range of our young people. There is no group provision for under 4s, but we have a baby room at the back of the main church hall with a sound feed, and also offer a quiet toy space in the church itself.

Prayer

We have an open prayer room that is available for prayer in solitude or with someone from the church community throughout Sunday worship. The room is usually available from around 9.10am for those wanting prayer time before the service.

Creative Studio

HLBC has a new art space currently open on Thursday and Friday evenings from 7pm where themes and responses to Sunday morning services can be explored and followed up through creative arts.

Evening Prayer Meeting

On Sunday evening we have a small prayer gathering in the Lounge, from 6pm 7pm. It is a time to worship and also to pray for our church and community, for the wider world and for ourselves.
